RedRock Broadcasting: Our History
Redrock Broadcasting, Inc., owns and operates KURR-FM, KRQX-FM, and KUTQ-FM, in Washington County, Utah, and is a locally owned and operated Broadcasting Company.
Redrock Broadcasting is 100% owned by G. Craig Hanson, who was President of Simmons Media from 1978 until his retirement in 2014. Craig is past Chairman and President of the Utah Broadcasters Association (UBA) and continues to serve on the UBA Board of Directors.
Craig Hanson and David Simmons purchased KDXU 890 AM and KZEZ FM 93.5 FM in St. George from the John Miner family in 1986, and went on to acquire and operate 10 radio stations in the St. George Market. Simmons sold stations to what is now Cherry Creek Radio in 2003 and sold stations in 2012 to what is now Canyon Media.
KURR-FM is known as "MIX 103.1" Southern Utah’s #1 Hit Music Station....and is a Contemporary Hit Music station (Top 40) and the home of market favorites Bryan and Cindy, as well as personalities Ryan Seacrest, Dylan Rodgers, and Mario Lopez.
KRQX-FM is known as "KOOL 98.9" Southern Utah’s Greatest Hits and plays the best hits of the 70’s and 80’s and features Chris Robbins, Cindy Olson, Dan Jessop, Tom Kent, and Scott Shannon as personalities.
KUTQ-FM is known as "102.3 Coyote Country" Southern Utah’s New Country Leader playing all the top Country Hits and featuring “America’s Morning Show with Blair, Kelly, and Chuck” as well as personalities Mary Kennedy, Bryan Benware, and Dan Jessop.
Redrock Broadcasting, "The Sound of Southern Utah" reaches over 30% of the 18+ population in Washington County Utah each week.
